Staytite have implemented a new kanban service for a leading cross channel rail operator. Part of this implementation consisted of a stock rationalisation programme that took existing part numbers from six hundred and eleven to four hundred and fifty two, with the added benefit of cost savings this brings for the customer.
Staytite are delivering twice a week to the site across five different locations ensuring stock levels are maintained at all times. The kanban is running our tried and tested two bin system with full stock traceability of all parts giving the customer greater confidence regarding quality.
Staytite have secured the first approval in the UK for the use of the “Shakeproof Bolt” with a leading rail infrastructure company. The Shakeproof Bolt will be used in conjunction with a standard full nut and washers. The application has resulted in a re-design of the stretcher bar so it can be successfully mated to the track using the shakeproof bolt, washers and full nut, thus eliminating any loosening or creep due to constant vibration. Approval was gained on September 13th with full-scale implementation due in quarter one 2014. This is a huge step forward for both Staytite and the customer regarding rail applications and is very much a “first of its kind”.
Staytite are proudly working in partnership with one of the UK’s leading radiator manufacturers. Work has commenced on a new kanban service throughout October and November. Again as part of the service Staytite worked with the customer regarding stock rationalization, originally three hundred and five parts were being used, this is now down to two hundred and sixty two thanks to the engineering solution offered by Staytite where we were able to remove two washers from an application halving the parts used and saving nine hundred and seventy two working hours per year for the customer.
Staytite will be maintaining the stock twice a week across fourteen locations on site, using our tried and tested two bin system with full stock traceability of all parts giving the customer greater confidence regarding quality.
